MAAMI HOME - Clean & Care of marble and metal objects

Care and Maintenance

Here you can find a comprehensive guide with easy and practical steps to help you maintain and preserve the pristine condition of your MAAMI HOME objects, ensuring they always look as new as the day you acquired them.

Care Maintenance

Marble

Due to the natural characteristics of marble, it's important to avoid contact with certain substances, such as acids, coffee, and alcohol, as well as acidic cleaning products like vinegar or lemon juice. To protect this beautiful material from etching and staining, use coasters under items like glasses, especially if they contain alcohol or acidic substances. Additionally, consider renewing the protective coating once or twice a year.

For routine cleaning, use warm water and a non-abrasive sponge or soft cloth. While this is the best method for regular upkeep, it won't remove deep-set stains or etching.

What to avoid

What can be used

  • Avoid scratches on the marble surface by using placemats under solid items.
  • Avoid using bleach, ammonia, general-purpose cleaners, abrasive agents, paper, or steel wool.
  • Avoid cleaners with acid, such as bathroom, grout, tub, or tile cleaners.
  • Do not use alkaline cleaners not specifically formulated for natural stone.
  • Avoid leaving pools of liquids, such as water on the marble surface to prevent stains.
  • Marble surfaces can be treated with special anti-stain and anti-oil products. For daily care we recommend using Marble Care Kit.
  • For etch marks and finish restoration, professional refinishing is best, but manual stain removal is an option if needed.
  • For tough stains, use a soft scrub pad, then wipe away residue with a cloth.
  • Finally, apply a quality stone sealant to protect affected areas, following the manufacturer's instructions. Sealants are available at most home improvement centers.

Metal

  • Never use alcohol or detergents on metals.
  • Use only thin cotton or extra soft cloths. We recommend stained metals to be cleaned by professionals.
  • The polished metal should be cleaned with a damp cloth.
  • Do not use ointments or commercial waxes directly on the materials as they may scratch or damage the finish.

Timber and LacquersTimber and Lacquers

  • Avoid extreme humidity changes at home, as extremely dry air can cause damage to the wood and crack the lacquer.
  • Do not place hot or damp objects directly on the wood.
